Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC) has received a new upgraded Airbus H145 air ambulance helicopter for emergency medical services (EMS).

The helicopter, registered with the call sign ‘G-RMAA’, was inducted into service on 27 February 2018.

MAAC now operates three air ambulance helicopters across six Midlands counties and its fleet includes an H135 and the newly added H145 helicopter. The organisation will also continue to lease one additional H135 aircraft from its aviation partner, Babcock Mission Critical Services.

The H145 received its medical fit out at Babcock in Staverton, Gloucestershire.

The new H145 will take on an average of three air ambulance missions every day. The helicopter can travel greater distances without the need for refuelling and enables the aircrew to respond even faster due to increased speed capability. The larger interior means additional aircrew can be flown to major incident scenes, and further medical equipment can be carried on board to treat more complex emergencies.
