Two Russian Helicopters' aircraft operated by the State Forestry Administration of China have been involved in firefighting operations to extinguish a major forest fire near Dzianide in Zhejiang province, the company announced on 26 September.

The Ka-32А11ВС and Mi-26T helicopters delivered more than 250 tons of water on the fire in a mountainous region inaccessible to ground vehicles, helping to extinguish the fire within several hours.

Mi-26T can carry a maximum payload of up to 20 tons in the transport cabin or on the external sling. The Mi-26T is mainly used in emergency response to deliver special-purpose machinery and fire brigades to the fire point and throw water on the burning forested area.

Ка-32А11ВС is a medium multirole coaxial helicopter designed for complicated fire suppression assignments, search and rescue operations, evacuation of patients and injured persons. The aircraft has more than 40 firefighting equipment options, including Bambi-Bucket and Simplex systems, and water cannons for horizontal fire suppression.

The State Forestry Administration of China currently operates four Mi-26T and 15 Ka-32A11BC helicopters.
