Latitude Technologies has signed a three-year agreement to provide flight data analytics services for a fleet of ten Leonardo AW139s, it announced on 1 November. The recipient, Ornge, is the air ambulance and ground transportation service for Ontario, Canada.

The company has been working with Ornge since 2007, supplying Iridium Satcom voice, flight following and data services

Tim Curtis, VP information services at Latitude Technologies, explained that ‘expanding our long-term relationship with Ornge into the HFDM analytics field is very important to us… [We] feel that we can enhance existing services with this new partnership.’

Latitude Technologies will use existing solid state quick access recorders (SSQARs) onboard the current fleet to assist in the development of a helicopter flight data monitoring (HFDM) programme.

The HFDM programme will collect and analyse flight data generated by the SSQARs during line operations for generating insight into the total flight operations environment.

Latitude Technologies will supply the software for downloading the data from the aircraft and the means to transfer it securely for analysis. The data will run against an industry-accepted data set of AW139 parameters and limitations for exceedances and alert levels within the monitoring system for capturing such events.

The insights and information provided by the HFDM programme will be used to reduce operational costs and improve training effectiveness, maintenance, operational and engineering procedures.
