Hiller (China) start construction of UH-12 factory
Hiller (China) Aircraft Manufacturing Company has commenced construction of a new light helicopter production facility at Zhangjiakou City, northwest of Beijing with initial earthworks commencing 18 May.
The US$80 million plant is expected to come on line by late this year, producing Hiller UH-12 models for the Chinese domestic market.
Hiller (China) forecasts suggest an annual production capability of 200 aircraft per annum.
The company is a joint venture between Hiller Aircraft Corporation, Zhangjiakou Qahar General Aviation Company, and the Shanxi Xinhaisheng Trade Company.
Zhangjiakou Qahar General Aviation is a business arm of the Chinese Hebei Province local government. It is already carrying out low rate production of UH-12 parts and sub assemblies.
Shanxi Xinhaisheng is a shipping and bulk commodities transport company and acquired a 29.4 per cent shareholding in the light utility helicopter manufacturer in December.
