Contract signed for VRT500 delivery to Ludev Aviation
Russian Helicopters’ VR-Technologies division will start supplying five of the VRT500 to Malaysia’s Ludev Aviation in 2023, and options including the interiors and livery colour scheme are expected to be determined once the helicopter is certified in accordance with EASA requirements.
The VRT500 design was completed in early 2019, after which the development of the design documents started, and tests of the first prototype are expected to begin in 2020.
‘Europe and Asia are priority potential markets for the VRT500 helicopter,’ Alexander Okhonko, VR-Technologies’ director general, said.
‘With its performance, the helicopter competes with rotorcraft of the same class used in these regions.’
VRT500 is a light single-engine helicopter with coaxial rotors, and has a maximum take-off weight of 1,650kg.
It can carry up to five passengers and is equipped with modern avionics, reaching speeds of up to 250kph while flying at a range of 860km, and carrying some 730kg of payload.
The VRT500 is designed for passenger, multipurpose, cargo, training, VIP and HEMS applications.
