US sends armoured brigade equipment to Europe

US Army Europe (USAREUR) reopened a storage facility in the Netherlands on 15 December as part of the prepositioning of equipment for an armoured brigade combat team in Europe.

This is part of the European Reassurance Initiative to reinforce NATO's eastern flank.

Some 1,600 vehicles, including main battle tanks, armoured fighting vehicles and artillery, will be stored in a Prepositioned Organizational Materiel Storage (POMS) site in Eygelshoven in the south-western Netherlands in 2017.
