US Navy seeks bullet batteries

The US Navy is looking for industry help in identifying battery solutions that could be applied to new generations of guided projectiles. Service interest in the new battery designs was outlined in an 18 December 2018 ‘sources sought’ announcement released by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, on behalf of the Navy’s Program Manager, Surface Ship Weapons.

Acknowledging that the eventual battery requirement set is ‘somewhat fluid’ at this stage, the announcement identifies service interest in ‘a battery solution to meet the size, power and storage requirements’ to support ‘advancing US Navy technology for guided projectiles’.
