The US State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale of AC-208 sustainment, logistics, and spares support to Iraq, it was announced on 14 June. The total overall estimated cost is $181 million.

Iraq has requested a five-year sustainment package for its AC/RC-208 fleet that includes: depot-level, intermediate and operational maintenance; logistics; maintenance training; publication updates; component repair; and spare parts.

The request also covers contract engineering services, training services and contract logistics services (CLS). There is no MDE associated with this possible sale.

With this support the Iraqi Air Force will be able to continue operating its fleet of eight AC-208 light attack and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance aircraft after the expiry of its existing CLS contract in June.

If it goes ahead the principal contractors for the potential sale will be Orbital ATK and Flight Safety International.
