US Army orders ANVIS HUD spare parts

7th October 2020 - 11:00 GMT | by The Shephard News Team

Deliveries will continue until 2023 of spare parts for US Army helicopter pilot HUD system

The US Army is to receive spare parts for the Aviators Night Vision Imaging System Head-Up Display (ANVIS HUD), under a contract with Elbit Systems of America.

The deal, worth about $50 million, was awarded by the Defense Logistics Agency.

An initial order for $17.9 million was recently placed under this contract with further deliveries until 2023, Elbit Systems of America noted on 7 October.

ANVIS HUD is a day and night display system that connects to the helmets of helicopter pilots. Relevant data is presented in front of the eyes, so the pilot does not need look down or inside the cockpit to view information from various sensors.

Shephard Defence Insight calculates that ANVIS HUD operates on more than 6,500 helicopters in 25 countries, including ten NATO members.
