BAE Systems to provide spare parts for initial training and fielding of Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicles

BAE Systems Land & Armaments is providing spare parts 'necessary for initial training and fielding for Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicles', the DoD announced on 14 May.

Work on a $15.7 million contract modification from US Army Contracting Command is scheduled for completion by 1 January 2023.

The AMPV was developed in response to a US Army requirement for a platform to replace ageing M113 APCs in service with Armored Brigade Combat Teams.

If the programme is exercised to its full extent, notes Shephard Defence Insight, a total of 2,897 AMPVs will be procured in five different variants by the US Army.

Shephard recently reported that delays to the programme mean that AMPV operational testing and production activities will stretch into 2022.
