UK Dstl contracts QinetiQ to manage weapons centre

A four-year contract has been awarded to QinetiQ by the UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) for the management of research into complex weapons and munitions.

QinetiQ will manage the Dstl’s Weapons Science and Technology Centre (WSTC) and under contract awarded in May the company manage the planning, tasking and delivery of around £8 million of annual research into technology for complex weapons, general munitions and energetic materials.

According to Dstl, these areas are vital in terms of national security and UK exports. QinetiQ will lead a team of representatives from the MoD and major defence companies including MBDA,
