StandardAero to support P-8A engines

30th October 2018 - 15:30 GMT | by The Shephard News Team

StandardAero has been selected as the US Navy's primary engine depot for support of CFM56-7 engines used on the P-8A maritime patrol aircraft, the company announced on 24 October.

Under the award, StandardAero will provide depot level repair and overhaul for the propulsion systems.

This is the second year in a row that the company has been selected to perform this work, which is carried out under an IDIQ contract that is competed and awarded each year among the US Navy’s approved sources. The contract supports the US Navy, the government of Australia and other foreign military sales customers.

The CFM56 engines used on the P-8A aircraft are a commercially developed platform, capable of generating more than 27,000lbs of thrust.
