Spain requests logistics support for its Reapers
Reaper ISR UAVs with the Spanish Air Force are set to benefit from follow-on contractor logistics support, pending Congressional approval of a $110 million FMS deal for General Atomics Aeronautical Systems.
The contractor would provide MQ-9A Block 5 components, spare parts and accessories; software and software support; simulator software and training services; and ‘other related elements of logistical and program support’, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on 24 May.
Shephard Defence Insight notes that the Spanish Air Force ordered four MQ-9A aircraft in 2015 and another two in 2019.
The UAV comes with MTS-B EO/IR sensors and the Block 20A Lynx multi-mode radar, Block 30 ground control stations, plus SATCOM and line-of-sight data link capabilities.
