Rolls-Royce receives T-56 upgrade supplies order
Rolls-Royce will supply equipment to upgrade the T56 engine under a contract from the US Defense Logistics Agency Aviation announced on 15 November.
The company will provide supplies related to the upgrade of the T56 engine from series 3.0 to series 3.5 for aircraft used by the US Air Force and Navy.
The T56 series 3.5 meets requirements for a 7.9 per cent fuel reduction over the earlier series. The enhancement package also allows T56 engines to operate at significantly lower turbine temperatures, extending parts life and improving reliability by 22 percent.
The $67 million requirements contract has a five-year base contract with one five-year option period.
Work will run through September 2024.
