Rockwell Collins makes final delivery to USAF as part of the C/KC-135 air traffic programme
The U.S. Air Force and Rockwell Collins on Tuesday marked the conclusion of a 100 percent on-time, on-budget program with the final avionics delivery for the C/KC-135 Global Air Traffic Management program. The successful program was celebrated at a ceremony at Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas.
The program provides the Air Force C/KC-135 fleet with unhindered access to global air routes, enabling the tanker fleet with enhanced mission effectiveness while saving fuel.
At the ceremony, Dave Nieuwsma, vice president and general manager, mobility and rotary wing solutions, said the KC-135 team met every deadline while maintaining demanding schedules.
“The success of this program has been largely due to unmatched teamwork and collaboration between Rockwell Collins, the U.S. Air Force and Boeing,” he said. “This project has proved to be a true partnership, with all of us heavily immersed in developing and refining requirements and monitoring progress to ensure delivery of this much needed capability to our warfighters. None of this could have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the entire team.”
