Paris Air Show: KHI eyes export market

Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ (KHI) military cargo aircraft will be operational with the Japanese Air Self Defence (JASD) force by 2017, Shephard has learned at the Paris Air show.

Problems were discovered with the aircraft during cabin pressure tests, meaning that the flight testing programme has had to be restarted.

‘We had to restart the flight tests because the pressurised cabin damaged the structure of the aircraft during cabin pressure tests,’ Masayuki Kubo, senior staff officer at KHI told Shephard. ‘Once the flight tests are done we will then be delivering the aircraft in 2017.’
