Nordic cooperation on air transport intensifies

The Nordic defence ministers have signed a letter of intent to promote future collaboration on air transportation, it has emerged.

Increased concerted effort on tactical air transport was the main topic during the Nordic defence ministers' most recent meeting in Skagen, Denmark on 5 and 6 November – although other areas of possible cooperation were also discussed, in addition to continued Nordic support for Afghanistan.

In mid-November 2011, the Nordic Military Coordination Committee stood up a Norwegian-led group which consequently wrote a feasibility study in order to assess possible areas of Nordic Tactical Air Transport (NorTAT) cooperation.
