MTU Maintenance Canada will become the main depot for GE F138 engines and components that power USAF aircraft.

The contract was awarded through the Canadian Commercial Corporation. It is estimated to be worth $225m and will run until February 2030.

The F138 is the military version of the CF6-80C2 engine used in the USAF’s largest aircraft, the C-5M Super Galaxy.

Michael Schreyögg, Chief Program Officer at MTU, said: ‘This is one of the largest contracts in MTU Maintenance Canada’s history.’

The company holds licences to carry out maintenance and testing of the CF6, CFM56 and V2500 family of engines and provides components which are used in 30% of active service aircraft worldwide.
