The US Military Sealift Command (MSC) has exercised a one-year renewal option for vertical replenishment (VERTREP) services by AAR's Airlift division, the company announced on 26 October.

Under the one-year $6.7 million renewal option, Airlift will continue to provide VERTREP services to the US Navy's 5th and 7th fleets in the Indian Ocean, Arabian Gulf and Mediterranean Sea.  The original contract was awarded in 2014 for an estimated $34 million, including all options.

The contract covers the use of two helicopters and associated personnel, along with technical support and operational services. AAR operates six helicopters for the navy's commercial VERTREP programme.

Steven Harrison, president, AAR Airlift Group, said: 'AAR Airlift has provided exceptional service to the US Navy at an excellent value for eight consecutive years. We’re honoured to continue providing this critical service for our military personnel.'
