8th October 2020 - 11:25 GMT | by The Shephard News Team

The Luxembourg Army Air Force has received its Airbus A400M military transport aircraft, manufacturer Airbus Defence and Space announced on 7 October.

The aircraft was accepted at the A400M final assembly line in Seville, Spain, before embarking on a ferry flight to Luxembourg (pictured).

It will continue to the BELUX 15th Air Transport Wing in Melsbroek, Belgium, where the joint airlift unit between the Air Component of the Belgian Armed Forces (seven A400Ms) and Luxembourg Army Air Force (with one) will be based.

Other A400M operators include France, Germany, Malaysia, Spain, Turkey and the UK.

Belgium will become the eighth A400M operator; test flights for its first aircraft were completed in August 2020.
