The Australian DoD has revealed plans to procure an additional 200 vehicles under the Land 121 programme, also known as Project Overlander.

The DoD told Shephard on 26 July that the vehicles would come from ‘alternative sources, once user requirements are finalised’.

‘These will predominantly be additional G-Wagon vehicles to provide some of the necessary sub-capabilities that are more efficiently provided by light vehicles,’ a spokesperson divulged.

The DoD said that Land 121 recently received a revised Second Pass approval that allowed contracts to be signed with Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles for A$1.58 billion (€1.1 billion) and Haulmark Trailers (Australia)
