Israel selects M-346 trainer aircraft
Alenia Aermacchi has announced that the M-346 trainer aircraft has been selected by Israel’s Ministry of Defence (MOD) to train its air force pilots. The announcement was made in a 16 February 2012 company statement.
This latest selection follows the recent delivery of the aircraft to the Italian Air Force. According to the company, the M-346 will also be in service with Singapore’s Air Force shortly.
The M-346s will replace the Israel Air Force’s existing TA-4 Sky-Hawks. A total of around 30 aircraft will be delivered, according to the company, with the official contract award scheduled for the middle of 2012. The aircraft will be delivered to the customer starting in the middle of 2014.
