Indonesia is set to buy five A400M Atlas transport aircraft from Airbus Defence & Space, after the Indonesian House of Representatives greenlighted the acquisition proposal in mid-January.

Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu confirmed to Reuters the planned purchase on 18 January. The news agency quoted him as saying, ‘I have a plan to buy A400s from Europe...but just a small number. There is no need to buy many.’

However, when approached by Shephard, Airbus declined to confirm or comment on the sale. It is understood that no contract has yet been signed, although the formal process can now go forward.
