IDEF 2019: Weaponised cranes to aid Turkey's insurgency fight

1st May 2019 - 15:38 GMT | by Kate Martyr in Istanbul

Turkish manufacturer MPG is displaying the first out of 29 specially armoured recovery cranes to replace civilian vehicles that the Turkish government is currently using on its eastern borders.

The multi-purpose armoured recovery crane (MPARC) still needs to undergo ballistic and mine explosion tests as well as mobility performance, which will take place at a Turkish military facility after IDEF 2019 before the company will begin serial production of the vehicles.

The MPARC is the answer to a Turkish requirement for a recovery truck suitable for use on Turkey’s eastern border with Syria where the nation is currently fighting insurgents.
