Harland & Wolff rescue by energy firm leaves door open for ‘secondary revenue’ streams (updated)

The potential rescue of the Belfast-based marine industry service provider and former shipbuilder, Harland & Wolff (H&W) had re-opened the prospect that the site could be a potential location for manufacturing work for the UK Royal Navy's future Type 31 frigate.

Babcock, the lead behind the Arrowhead 140 consortium and whose bid was downselected by the UK government for the Type 31 programme, had previously declined to comment as to how the five near-5000t frigate will be built. The H&W site was listed as a potential build location for the programme, among others in the UK.
