Fincantieri receives order for LSS forward sections
Fincantieri has received a contract to produce forward sections for four Logistic Support Ships (LSS) being built for the French Navy.
The contract, from Chantiers de l’Atlantique (CdA), calls for the construction of the forward sections of four vessels based on the Italian Navy's Vulcano class design. The sections will be built in Castellammare di Stabia, with deliveries to Chantiers de l’Atlantique scheduled to take place between 2021 and 2027.
Chantiers de l’Atlantique is delivering the LSS for the French Navy as part of a consortium with Naval Group under the Franco-Italian LSS programme, led by the Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation on behalf of France’s DGA and its Italian counterpart, NAVARM.
The LSS will support other transport vessels with the supply of liquid loads (diesel fuel, jet fuel, fresh water) and solid loads (emergency spare parts, food and ammunitions).
