FIDAE 2012: Boeing offering surplus KC-135s to Latin American and Asia-Pacific nations

Several Latin American countries have expressed an interest in purchasing surplus KC-135 Stratotankers, it has been revealed.

According to Earl Godby, head of business development for maintenance, modifications and upgrades at Boeing, the unnamed nations – which also include an Asia-Pacific nation – have been spurred on by the successful introduction and integration of the KC-135E into the Chilean Air Force (FACH).

'When the USAF announced the KC-46 would the next generation tanker, there was a misconception that the KC-135 would disappear but it will continue to be a workhorse for the USAF for a number of years to come,'
