Avalon: Airbus expects A400M type certification mid-year

Airbus Military aircraft expects the type certification of the A400M transport and refueling aircraft before the middle of 2013 after the aircraft completed cold weather trials in Canada earlier in February.

Ian Elliot, Airbus Military’s vice-president defence capability, said at the Australian International Airshow on 26 February that the company expected to deliver four aircraft this year, three to France and one to Turkey, and was set to ramp up production.

The company is expecting to manufacture seven aircraft in 2014, 21 in 2015 and finally reach a full manufacturing rate of 30 per year in 2016.
