Avalon 2019: Malaysian A400M makes Avalon debut

An Airbus A400M transport aircraft of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) debuted at the Avalon Air Show near Melbourne, even though the type has already flown in Australian airspace during last year’s Exercise Pitch Black.

The A400M is being pitched at New Zealand’s current requirement for a transport aircraft replacement, which will see both its C-130H and Boeing 757 platforms retired. Kawasaki Heavy Industries is also eyeing the same tender, with the Japanese company sending a C-2 transport aircraft to Australia for the first time.
