Australia expands naval group maintenance contracts

The Australian DoD released a tender on 7 May for the maintenance of the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN’s) four Adelaide-class frigates.

The DoD has invited BAE Systems; Rolls-Royce/KBR; and Thales Australia to bid for the five-year contract with an option for annual extensions. 

The tender marks a further shift towards longer term support arrangements following the Group Maintenance Contract model, which is based on recommendations of the 2011 Rizzo Report.
