Improvements to the main air traffic control (ATC) tower at the US military’s Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska have been completed, US PACOM announced on 22 June.

At an approximate cost of $2.4 million, the renovations have improved the existing structure that was built in 1967. Renovations to the tower included an upgraded electrical system, new sheet rock and lighting, a new entryway and adjustable work centre consoles.

The ATC tower will provide a safe and clean workspace with increased personnel comfort and added functions to cut down on any future renovation cost.
