Alion wins Army contract to support operations, training solutions

Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions company, has been named an awardee of a US Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) multiple award task order contract valued at up to $2.5 billion to meet the needs of operational customers throughout the entire US Army.

Operations, Planning, Training and Resource Support Services (OPTARSS II) provides a streamlined process for Army and DoD organizations to acquire critical services, including operational support, training and exercising, transformation and force protection.

"From modeling and simulation to training, operational planning to transformation, the Alion team has the depth of experience and relevant skills to help the Army achieve measurable results," explained Lt. Gen. David Ohle (USA, Ret.), Alion Sector Senior Vice President and Manager of the Defense Operations and Integration Sector. "With OPTARSS II, the goal is to ultimately improve Warfighter readiness by providing an effective method to quickly acquire the solutions they need."

Ohle added, "OPTARSS has long been one of the premier contract vehicles for supporting the Army's critical contracting needs, both in the US and overseas. This new contract continues that legacy of a fast, efficient vehicle for supporting the Army Warfighter."

The Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) multiple award task order contract runs for one base year, with four one-year option periods for a total of five years. The contract will allow customers to place orders in a number of task areas. The contract was created to provide operational and training support to FORSCOM in the Continental United States and outside the Continental United States and for mobilization and deployment planning.
