RUAG Aviation has carried out helicopter crew training for Maintenance Check Flights (MCF) at its Aviation Helicopter Competency Center in Alpnach, Switzerland.

The courses are being offered by RUAG to prepare flight crew and technical personnel for the introduction of MCF regulations by EASA in 2019.

MCF are designed to test functions which can only be checked during actual flight. Their regular completion is required by aircraft original equipment manufacturers, Continuing Airworthiness Management Organizations and maintenance support providers throughout each aircraft’s service life.

In 2019 EASA will introduce regulations for MCF to confirm safety guidelines, clearly define pilot requirements and apply stringent procedures to the testing process for helicopters and other complex platforms.

The RUAG training course includes all aspects of carrying out MCFs, including preparation, risk analysis, briefings and collaboration between the different teams working in and around the helicopter, as well as debrief. RUAG provides further support as course participants have the option to extend their knowledge with practical helicopter training, upon completion of the theory-based instruction.
