The helicopters have a gross weight of 2,200lbs and derated power for improved performance at high altitudes and extended time between overhaul of 2,400 hours. The R44 received FAA certification in May 2016.

Options on the Cadet include a GMA 350Hc audio panel, GTX 335 and 345 transponders, Garmin’s G500H Flight Display, avionics for visual flight rules and instrument flight rules training, stability augmentation system with autopilot, and air conditioning.

The R44 Cadet is a two-seat helicopter that retains the same basic airframe, rotor system, and engine from the R44 Raven I four-seat light helicopter.
