Metro Aviation has delivered an EC155 helicopter to Penn State Health, the company announced on 26 September.

The new Life Lion helicopter is a previously owned corporate aircraft that was purchased from Malaysia.

Metro Aviation revamped the 2011 aircraft and converted its interior to a medical configuration to provide more space to carry additional specialty crewmembers. The aircraft also features an RSG litter, the first that Metro has installed on an EC155.

Life Lion will spend the next few weeks training its pilots and crew on the new machine before the aircraft enters service.

Life Lion averages 1,100 transports per year and nearly 75% of those are inter-facility. They also respond to scene calls and provide specialty care for neonatal intensive care unit and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation patients.
