Leonardo and Olmedo team for helicopter-vehicle EMS development
Leonardo Helicopters and Olmedo have signed a collaboration agreement to develop the technologies required for rotorcraft and motor vehicles to be able to more quickly respond to jointly-conducted emergency medical rescue missions.
By teaming with healthcare vehicle specialist Olmedo, Leonardo is aiming to improve the timeliness and effectiveness of emergency medical interventions carried out by helicopters and ambulances, making it more it a more seamless operation.
It will lead to the creation of a research and development structure delivered by a joint research team, which will consider the development and prototyping of new components that will be designed for use on both helicopters and ambulances.
Data sharing platforms will be developed that will enable the real-time interface of a patient's vital signs throughout the rescue mission, from the place of intervention to the hospital and during transfers.
Furthermore, Olmedo will form a new ‘fly division’ within the company, which will be dedicated to the design of products and technologies for air ambulances.
