Save this for later

Indra, in partnership with Airbus Helicopters, has developed a full flight simulator (FFS) for the H145 helicopter, the company announced on 25 September.

The FFS has obtained Flight Simulation Training Devices (H) level D qualification from Germany's Civil Aviation Authority, in accordance with the standards set by the European Aviation Safety Agency.

The simulator is installed at the Airbus Helicopter pilot training academy in Donauwörth, Germany.

The level D qualification implies that one hour of training corresponds to one of hour of flight in the real helicopter, and confirms that the simulator replicates, with fidelity, the performance of the real aircraft. This enables pilots to complete the adaptation course for flying a new aircraft model with the simulator, without practice flights on the actual helicopter - a feature called 'zero flight time'.

The H145 simulator provides training for missions such as search and rescue operations at sea, landings on oil platforms or ships, day or night, and in any weather conditions.
