Heli-Expo 2018: P&WC revamps engine services
Pratt and Whitney Canada (P&WC) is stepping up a number of its customer service operations as it looks to respond to emerging helicopter market trends.
In an effort to strengthen its second hand operators business, and more specifically those using Leonardo AW109 light twin and AW139 medium twin helicopters, the engine manufacturer will offer a certified pre-owned programme for the PW6-67C, the PW206C and the PW207C powerplants.
The programme will see PW&C partner with international helicopter dealer Rotortrade and includes a 500-hour, one year engine warranty as well as the option of a six month technical service on the engine.
‘We have noticed that the quality of transaction in the second-hand market is well beyond that of new helicopters and the OEM’s support in these transactions is something that can help an operator resell for better value,’ Nicolas Chabée, VP of sales and marketing for helicopter engines at P&WC, told Shephard.
Certain stipulations mean those eligible for the programme must have an engine currently maintained in a P&WC-owned or associated facility. The engine is also required to pass an inspection.
In a company statement, PW&C said it plans on expanding the programme to its ‘additional turboshaft platforms’.
