Airbus Helicopters has carried out a flight demonstration of the first serial H160 to roll off the new assembly line in Marignane.

The helicopter will be delivered to Babcock, the launch customer, in 2020. The aircraft performed its first flight on 14 December.

The first serial aircraft will join the three prototypes, which have already accumulated over a 1000 flight hours, in the final steps of the flight test campaign. The test campaign will confirm that modifications that have been introduced through the serial configuration have no impact on the helicopter’s handling qualities.

The H160 features sound-reducing Blue Edge blades and Helionix digital avionics suite. The aircraft is equipped with a large windshield, lateral and floor level windows that will allow pilots to see below the aircraft when landing. This is combined with visibility provided by cameras that can be displayed one of the four multi-functional displays in the cockpit.
