Cobham Aerospace Communications has started production of a remote control unit for its RT-7000 Panel Mount Radio (PMR), the company announced on 15 December.

The new RT-7000 Remote Control Display Unit (RCDU) connects to an RT-7000PMR and replicates the radio’s primary control and display. It operates as a panel-mount radio without transceivers and features a shorter chassis for simple installation.

With all the features of the panel-mount radio, the RCDU delivers instant operation with no delay and features a customisable user interface.

The RCDU enables radio control in a secondary position in the aircraft, for users such as emergency medical technicians, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission radio operators, airborne law enforcement tactical flight officers, search and rescue scanners, rescue winch operators or anyone with observer communication requirements.
