ABC selects AW169 for ENG operations
Leonardo and Mitsui Bussan Aerospace have signed a contract with Asahi Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) for one AW169 helicopter, Leonardo announced on 6 February.
Mitsui Bussan Aerospace is the official distributor for the AW169 and AW139 helicopter models in Japan.
The AW169 helicopter will replace an older model and will be used by ABC to perform electronic newsgathering (ENG) operations.
The aircraft is expected to enter into service in 2021 after local mission equipment installation and customisation. The aircraft will feature an ultra-HD gyrostabilised camera, microwave downlink for live broadcasting and a comprehensive TV mission console.
