UK MoD orders Celox Rapid haemostatic gauze
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has ordered Celox Rapid haemostatic gauze for the UK military, the company announced on 29 January.
Celox Rapid is a fast and effective haemostatic gauze designed to stop life-threatening bleeding injuries in under 60 seconds.
The gauze is a fourth generation haemostat that uses the latest haemostatic technology and saves over two minutes treatment time.
During testing, Celox Rapid demonstrates faster plug formation through a mechanism that absorbs water from the blood that promotes rapid wound adhesion and forms a robust gel plug to stop the flow of blood.
Geraint Lloyd, business manager at Celox, said: ‘Celox has been carried by front line forces for over ten years, and this decision to move to ‘Rapid’ means significantly faster treatment times under fire, increasing survivability for both the casualty and medic alike.’
