Triumph Integrated Systems has received a contract from Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) to supply remote valve actuation (RMVA) systems as part of the US Navy’s USS George Washington nuclear powered aircraft carrier overhaul.

The contract will see Triumph’s Mechanical Solutions produce 165 RMVAs for the carrier. RMVA systems provide mechanical backup push/pull control, which allows for remote opening and closing of critical valves throughout the ship.

USS George Washington is one of ten Nimitz-class carriers in service in the US Navy. HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division has specified the RMVA systems for use on many of the Nimitz and Gerald R Ford-class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.
