Rheinmetall to deliver HX81 tractor-trailers
Rheinmetall has been awarded a contract valued at $141.3 million from an undisclosed international customer to deliver HX81 tractor-trailers, the company announced on 24 November.
The order includes 110 logistic vehicles, comprehensive service and logistical support for a period of five years. The vehicles on order are tractor-trailers based on the proven HX81 from Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV). Delivery is scheduled for between January 2018 and February 2019.
The HX range is designed for robustness, load capacity and mobility both on and off the road. They have a shelf life of 20 years and an average of 300,000km in military use. The vehicles can operate at temperatures ranging from -46 to +49 degrees Celsius and any climatic conditions. They can be equipped with active and passive protection solutions without major reengineering work.
The HX81 is available in varieties ranging from 4x4 to 10x10 cargo trucks, tankers, heavy-duty recovery vehicles, system platforms, folding road-laying and bridge-laying systems.
