Israel’s floating dock will serve to distribute ship maintenance capability

An agreement between Israel’s MoD and Israel Shipyards for the construction of a large floating dock will serve to augment facilities at Haifa while also providing a degree of dispersed capacity in the event of attack, according to a former Israeli Navy officer.

The construction of a large floating dock will cost in the region of NIS 90 million ($25 million) and be completed over a period of two years. The dock will be used for the maintenance of the Israel Navy’s submarines and Sa’ar 6 corvettes.
