Titagarh Wagons has launched the first of two fuel barges being built for the Indian Navy in Kolkata, the navy announced on 18 May.

The barge is 68m long and has a displacement of 2,000t. It has been designed to replenish LSHSD, AVCAT, fresh water and other oils to warships in harbour and at anchorage. The barge has a speed of up to 12kt with an endurance of 500 nautical miles.

The vessel features a collapsible mast that will enable it to berth alongside an aircraft carrier catering to the large overhang of the flight deck.
