C295W envelope keeps expanding
A new demonstration carried out by Airbus Defence and Space has seen the C295W transport and tanker conduct air-to-air refuelling contacts with an H225M Caracal helicopter. The company announced the flight demonstration on 17 January.
The trial, carried out in cooperation with Airbus Helicopters, saw contacts between the aircraft and helicopter executed at speeds of 105-115kt. According to the company, the operations went smoothly.
Airbus will now offer the capability to existing and prospective C295 operators looking to expand the application of the aircraft to special operations and extending the range of search and rescue aircraft.
