Aero India 2021: Military-civil synergy is the new MRO mantra

Boeing is one example of a company seeking to boost its defence MRO footprint in India.

India’s military is increasingly aware of the need for a concerted effort to tap civil MRO facilities. Many of these facilities have experienced and skilled human resources and are equipped with the latest equipment but are not fully utilised due to past unfriendly tax regimes. However, progressive policies have changed this.

At Aero India 2021, progress was apparent. For example, Boeing and Air Works announced a collaboration for maintenance support of the P-8I maritime patrol aircraft operated by the Indian Navy (IN) and the VIP transport fleet operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF).
