Northrop wins E-11A BACN support contract
Northrop Grumman has received a contract worth $265 million from the US Air Force for aircraft maintenance and logistics support of the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) system, the company announced on 5 September.
Work under this contract will support four BACN E-11A aircraft operations. The work is a continuation of an existing five-year maintenance contract which ends in January 2018. The new contract has a one-year base period with four option years.
BACN is a high-altitude, airborne communications and information gateway system that provides situational awareness and command and control coordination between warfighters and commanders. The system bridges and extends voice communications and battlespace information from numerous sources.
John Parker, VP, global logistics and modernisation, Northrop Grumman Technology Services, said: ‘This win continues the legacy of customer support established by Northrop Grumman and leverages the expertise and commitment by our team, both in and outside the continental US.
‘The execution of the new contract through January 2023 assures sustained support of the USAF BACN system.’
