Textron is modernising 100 advanced boresight equipment units on three types of helicopter.

Textron Systems is conducting a one-off MLU of advanced boresight equipment installed on AH-1Z Viper, AH-1W SuperCobra and MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, the US DoD announced on 13 May.

Under a $15.79 million IDIQ contract, Textron will modernise 100 advanced boresights on US and FMS customer-operated helicopters, bringing them up to the current COTS configuration.

The company will also provide depot repair and upgrade support, including ‘tear down and evaluation’ of the boresights, plus restoration, modification, and procurement of spare parts.

Work is expected to be completed in May 2026.

Advanced boresight systems use gyro-stabilised EO angular measurement to align systems before flight.
